The Merrimack Parks & Recreation Department is currently seeking a Cook / Kitchen Manager for Naticook Day Camp for the summer 2024 season following the retirement of a long standing employee. The Camp Cook / Kitchen Manager is responsible for planning, directing and supervising the Camps Food Service program which serves approximately 150 lunches per day.
Individual is responsible for:
-Training kitchen asst / Prep Cook staff
-Estimating food & supply needs to prepare all meals.
-Function as general all-round cook for all meals and special events
-Plan weekly meal menus and utilize leftovers as appropriate
-Supervise pantry and storerooms
-Supervise preparation of food by all kitchen staff
-Record quantities, types, and preparation methods of foods served
-In seasonal operation, clean and prepare food service areas for use.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving, and kitchen procedures
-Ability to prepare foods for special dietary needs (food allergies, diabetes, etc.)
-Ability to work well with other camp Staff
Minimum Qualifications
-Experience as cook and/or assistant cook, preferably at a Summer Camp or School;
-Training and experience in cooking for large groups;
-Must possess a current food service manager certification;
Position works Mondays - Fridays from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm from June 19th - August 23rd.
